Used CNC Machines in Virginia

Virginia's manufacturing base is dominated by defense and shipbuilding, making it one of the most technically demanding CNC markets on the East Coast.

Shipbuilding (Newport News). Huntington Ingalls Industries' Newport News Shipbuilding is the only facility in the United States capable of building nuclear aircraft carriers (Gerald R. Ford class) and one of two that builds nuclear submarines. The machining supply chain supporting this operation requires the heaviest CNC equipment in the industry: large-format CNC lathes, horizontal boring mills, VTLs, and HMCs capable of machining reactor components, hull sections, and propulsion parts.

Defense and intelligence (Northern Virginia, Fredericksburg, Manassas). The highest concentration of defense contractors in the country surrounds the Pentagon and extends along the I-66 and I-95 corridors. Northrop Grumman (Falls Church), Raytheon, BAE Systems, and hundreds of subcontractors produce defense electronics, weapons systems, and classified hardware requiring precision VMCs and CNC Swiss lathes.

Aerospace (Hampton, Danville). NASA Langley Research Center (Hampton), Rolls-Royce (Prince George), and the growing aerospace investment in Danville (Hortman Aviation, Kyocera-SGS) create additional CNC demand for precision and research machining.
