The Unisig 3-machine gun barrel cell is a complete, in-house rifle-barrel manufacturing line from Unisig, the deep-hole drilling specialist trusted across the firearms, aerospace, and energy industries. This 2015 cell pairs three coordinated machines: a Unisig UNE12-2 two-spindle gundrilling machine that bores the deep hole through the barrel blank (drill diameters from 1.4 to 12 mm, holes up to 19 mm, depths to 1,500 mm, spindle speeds to 12,000 RPM, and 2,000+ PSI high-pressure coolant), a Unisig UNR12-2 two-spindle reaming machine that brings the bore to precise roundness and diameter, and a Unisig R-2A servo-driven rifling machine that button-rifles the grooves with fully programmable twist rate and closed-loop control. All three run on touchscreen CNC control with contained chip collection, and the cell includes its tooling package (machine serials 1936, 1869, 1881).
Compared with the legacy barrel-making approach this cell replaces - standalone single-spindle gundrills paired with mechanical Pratt & Whitney-style sine-bar rifling machines - the Unisig line is a generational leap. Two-spindle gundrilling and reaming roughly double throughput over single-spindle predecessors, while the R-2A servo-driven, fully programmable rifling retires the fixed gears and sine bars of older machines: a shop changes twist rate and caliber in software instead of swapping mechanical hardware. Counter-rotation, closed-loop feedback, and touchscreen CNC hold the bore straightness and consistency that open-loop machines never could repeatably.
