2022 Phantom T-Series-48 CNC Router

The Phantom T Series 48 is a 4' x 8' three-axis CNC router with the kind of simple, serviceable engineering that has made Phantom a fixture in cabinet, sign, and plastics shops. This 2022 example carries a 4' x 8' work envelope with 11.8" of Z travel under a 16.1 HP air-cooled spindle running 8,000 to 24,000 RPM on ISO30 tooling, fed by a pneumatic 8-position rack-type automatic tool changer. Work holding is a multi-zone Bakelite vacuum table with integrated T-slot clamping over an aviation aluminum alloy base, supported by the included 220V single-phase rotary vane vacuum pump, pneumatic piston reference pins, and automatic pinch rollers delivering 600 lbs of force per roller. Motion runs on linear guideways on the X and Z axes, a linear guideway on Y, a Z-axis ball screw, and 1.25M Taiwan J&T rack and pinion under dust covers, all driven by Delta 750 watt servo motors and drives. The NK-280B hand pendant control handles programming and setup with a touch probe for tool length and Z-axis work coordinate, while an oil-mist system cools the cutters. The fully welded steel frame measures roughly 134" x 84" x 85" and runs on 220V single-phase 3-wire 60Hz 50A power, so it installs in a standard shop without a three-phase service.

Measured against Phantom's Atomic Series, the T Series 48 is the heavier-duty machine in the same family and the one built for continuous nesting work. The Atomic runs a 12 HP air-cooled spindle and 9 inches of Z travel; the T Series 48 steps up to 16.1 HP and 11.8 inches, the difference between clearing 3/4 sheet stock and clearing a thick glue-up or a fixture sitting on the table. Where the Atomic relies on manual pinch rollers, this machine adds automatic pneumatic rollers, so loading and holding a full sheet stops being a two-hand job. Control is the other jump: the Atomic is driven by the HC-203C hand controller, while the T Series 48 pairs the NK-280B pendant with its ISO30 8-position pneumatic changer so a multi-tool nested program runs start to finish without stopping for a manual tool change. For a shop stepping up from an entry-level router, that combination is a real production gain, not just a newer serial number.

About This Machine

The nested cabinet job you keep quoting three days out could be cutting tonight: 4' x 8' of multi-zone vacuum hold-down, 11.8 inches of Z clearance, and a 16.1 HP spindle that pulls its own tools from an 8-position changer while you work the next quote. It is a simple, field-proven platform on a fully welded steel frame and standard 220V single-phase power, so you can drop it in, dial it once, and trust it to run full sheets shift after shift.
