2007 Doosan DBC 110 CNC Table-Type Horizontal Boring Mill

The Doosan DBC 110 is a table-type CNC horizontal boring mill with a reputation for rigidity and long-term accuracy that has made it a staple in heavy fabrication, energy, mining, and large-part job shop environments. This 2007 machine is built around a 110 mm (4.33") boring spindle with an ISO 50 taper, rated to 4,000 RPM through a 3-speed geared headstock driven by a 35 HP (26 kW) spindle motor for high low-end torque. Travels are X 98.4" / Y 78.7" / Z 59.0" with 21.6" of W-axis quill travel. The 55.1" x 70.8" (1400 x 1800 mm) T-slot table carries up to 22,000 lbs and functions as a full B-axis rotary table with 0.001 degree positioning and locking pins at every 90 degrees. A chain-type tool magazine with double-arm exchange handles tools up to 5.1" diameter (9.8" with adjacent pockets empty), 23.6" long, and 55 lbs. Rapid traverse is rated at 472 IPM on X, Y, and Z, with cutting feeds to 315 IPM. Box guideways, a Meehanite cast iron bed, and double-nut ballscrews give the DBC 110 its heavy-cutting stiffness, and a chip conveyor handles swarf removal. Control is a Fanuc Series 31i-Model A.

Compared with the older Fanuc 18i-MB control generation that Doosan fitted to boring mills such as the DB 130CX, the DBC 110's Fanuc 31i-Model A is a clear step up. The 31i-A runs a 64-bit processor with AI Contour Control II and 200-block look-ahead for smoother contouring on large profiles, while the 18i-MB relied on RS-232 transfer and 160 m of part program storage. The 31i-A raises storage to roughly 2,100 ft with up to 1,000 registered programs and adds embedded Ethernet plus a PCMCIA card slot for drip feeding long programs. Combined with the 3-speed geared spindle, that gives a buyer one machine able to handle both high-torque boring and faster milling with modern program handling.
