The Agie Agietron Advance 4 is a Swiss-built CNC sinker EDM from a die-sink line known for dependable, repeatable spark erosion, a reputation that has made Agietron machines a fixture in mold, die and tool room environments. This 2005 unit, built by AGIE SA in Losone, Switzerland, is configured as the Agietron Advance 4 with C-Axis, adding a rotary C-axis on the ram for orienting electrodes, indexing and burning rotationally positioned features without re-fixturing the part. A 15-position electrode changer is designed to run multi-electrode roughing and finishing sequences with minimal operator intervention, and an Erowa chuck on the Z-axis provides a quick, repeatable electrode-holding interface. Workholding includes two permanent magnetic chucks on the table, and a handheld remote pendant allows jogging and setup right at the work zone. The machine runs on the Agie CNC control, carries a Total Walther fire extinguishing system, and is rated for 400V 3-phase, 60 Hz power at 12 kVA, with an approximate machine weight of 9,480 lbs (4,300 kg).
For a shop stepping up from a three-axis sinker with manual electrode changes, the Advance 4 C-Axis build is a meaningful upgrade rather than just a newer machine. The rotary C-axis opens up helical, rotationally oriented and multi-angle burns that a fixed ram cannot reach without extra fixtures and setups, while the 10-position electrode changer and Erowa holding system let roughing, semi-finishing and finishing electrodes be loaded once and sequenced by the control. That combination is built to cut setup time, reduce handling between electrode swaps and keep complex mold cavities, ribs and fine details consistent from one electrode to the next, giving a mold or tool shop more burning capacity from the same floor space.
