2006 Mazak FH-6800 CNC Horizontal Machining Center

The Mazak FH-6800 is a 4-axis horizontal machining center with a production-oriented dual-pallet design that has made it a dependable workhorse in aerospace, automotive, and job shop environments demanding high-mix, high-volume prismatic machining. This 2006 unit features a 7,000 RPM Cat50 spindle driven by a 40 HP motor, with travels of 41” (X) × 31” (Y) × 35” (Z) and a 24.8” dual-pallet system with 1-degree indexing for full 4th-axis versatility. The 80-position arm-type ATC and Mazatrol 640M conversational CNC control combine to support both complex and repeat work with minimal operator intervention, while 115 PSI through-spindle coolant, air blast, a rear discharge chip conveyor, and a tool breakage detection and monitoring system round out a well-equipped production-ready package.

The FH-6800 represented a meaningful generational step forward from Mazak’s earlier FH-680. While the FH-680 established the FH platform’s reputation for rigidity and dual-pallet efficiency, the FH-6800 raised the bar with an expanded ATC capacity from 60 to 80 tools, improved thermal compensation, and support for the more capable Mazatrol 640M control — a substantial upgrade over the older Mazatrol M-32 found on FH-680 units. The Mazatrol 640M brought faster processing speeds, improved 3D toolpath simulation, and better network integration, translating to less setup time and more consistent output on complex geometry.
