2017 OKK HMC-500 CNC Horizontal Machining Center

The 2017 OKK HMC-500 is a production-class 4-axis horizontal machining center built for fast cycle times and high rigidity across steel, aluminum, and cast metals. Travels of 29.9 inches in X and Y and 31.5 inches in Z combine with 2,480 IPM rapid traverse and 1G acceleration to keep non-cutting time low, while the 15,000 RPM CAT40 spindle paired with a 50 HP drive supports aggressive cutting across mixed materials. A 60-tool servo ATC with a 2.9 second cut-to-cut tool change, FANUC F31i-B Plus control, 0.001 degree B-axis indexing rotary table, and 500 x 500 mm pallet system with 1,543 lb load capacity make this unit well suited to mixed-setup production work. Onboard support includes a Renishaw OMP60 spindle probe, Renishaw OTS tool setter, 1,000 PSI through-spindle coolant with filtration, a rear-discharge lift-up chip conveyor, and a 75 KVA step-down transformer for 480V to 208V power.

Compared to the OKK HM500S - the platform's immediate predecessor in the same HM series - the HMC-500 delivers 20 percent faster rapid traverse and acceleration thanks to a lightweight stepped-X-axis column design and a servo-driven ATC. The combination of higher acceleration, sub 3-second tool change, and 1G rapid response gives the HMC-500 a measurable cycle time edge over the older HM500S on small to mid-sized parts, while the wide column and high-rigidity roller guides extend the range of materials it can cut with confidence.
