2023 Doosan HC400-II CNC Horizontal Machining Center

The 2023 Doosan HC400-II is a 4-axis CNC horizontal machining center built around dual 400 mm (16 inch) pallets and an automatic pallet changer, with 23.6 x 22 x 22.2 inch X/Y/Z travels and a full 4th-axis rotary table for true multi-side machining. Its 12,000 RPM CAT40 Big-Plus spindle delivers 25 HP and 261 ft-lb of torque, backed by a 60-tool magazine, 1,575 ipm rapids, and the Doosan-Fanuc i-Series control. The horizontal configuration sheds chips by gravity, and the two-pallet changer lets an operator load one side while the machine cuts the other for near-continuous production.

Compared to a 3-axis vertical machining center, the HC400-II adds a rotary 4th axis and pallet automation, so a part can be machined on multiple faces in one cycle while the next workpiece is staged off-line. For a shop moving from single-setup VMC work to higher-volume, multi-side production, that horizontal pallet-pool approach cuts the handling and setup time a vertical mill cannot match.
