The Grob G550 is a 5-axis universal machining center with a horizontal spindle, known for the rigidity and thermal stability that have made Grob a fixture in aerospace, automotive, and energy production. This 2015 machine combines generous travels of 31.5 x 40.2 x 38.2 inch (X/Y/Z) with an A/B-axis tilting rotary table for full 5-sided and simultaneous 5-axis machining, and pairs a 30,000-RPM HSK-63A spindle driven by a 43 HP motor with a 120-station tool changer and high-pressure through-spindle coolant. Control is by Heidenhain iTNC 530 with Smart.NC, KinematicOpt, and Dynamic Collision Monitoring, while a Schuler 10-station pallet pool with grid-hole-pattern pallets turns the machine into an automated, lights-out cell.
