2013 Mori Seiki NHX4000 CNC Horizontal Machining Center

The Mori Seiki NHX4000 is a dual-pallet CNC horizontal machining center built on Mori's DCG platform, known for the rigidity and thermal stability that make it a staple in production and contract-machining shops. This 2013 example offers 400 mm (15.7 in) square pallets, X/Y/Z travels of 22 x 22 x 26 inches, and full 4th-axis pallet rotation for multi-face machining. It is driven by a 40 HP, 12,000 RPM CAT-40 spindle with rapid traverse of 2,362 ipm and a 60-position automatic tool changer. The machine runs a Mori Seiki/Mitsubishi M730BM CNC control and is supported by a Daikin spindle oil chiller, a chip conveyor, and spindle-probe capability.

Compared with the earlier Mori Seiki NH4000 it succeeded, the NHX4000 is a meaningfully better machine, not just a newer one. The NHX generation adds greater structural rigidity and improved DCG thermal stability, a faster and more capable M730BM control in place of the older MSX/MAPPS generation, and quicker rapids and tool changes for shorter cycle times and better unattended pallet-to-pallet throughput. For a buyer, that means tighter parts and more reliable production than the horizontals it replaced.
