2015 DMG Mori NLX-1500SMC/500 CNC Turning Center

The 2015 DMG Mori NLX-1500SMC/500 is a six-inch-chuck mill-turn lathe that swings 15.2 in and cuts 20.3 in between chuck and tailstock while a 15 hp coolant-cooled spindle accelerates to 6000 RPM for aluminium hubs or holds 70 ft-lb at 600 RPM for alloy steel couplings. The BMT?55 12-station turret packs live tools that spin 10000 RPM, drilling and tapping cross-holes as the C-axis locks at 0.001° resolution. Box-way slides travel 10.2 in in X, 3.9 in in Y and 23.2 in in Z, while servo drives push rapids to 1181 IPM. A two-inch bar feeds through the 2.5-in spindle bore so nested lots run unattended, and CELOS with MAPPS IV overlays a Fanuc 30i kernel to store conversational cycles, G-code and probing macros side-by-side.

Compared with the NLX-1500S, the SMC leaps to 6000 RPM, 10000 RPM live tools and a 0.001° C-axis—yet both share identical bed castings and tailstock mounts, so existing soft jaws and sub-programs move over untouched while cycle time plunges.
