2007 Star SB-16D Swiss Type CNC Lathe

The 2007 Star SB-16D Swiss Lathe is a compact yet high-precision sliding headstock machine, expertly built for efficient small-part production. It handles up to 5/8-inch bar stock, offering an 8-inch headstock stroke. Its main spindle reaches 10000 RPM powered by a 2.2 kW continuous / 3.7 kW peak motor. With rapid feed rates of up to 1378 IPM and configurable live tooling—typically 2 live + 6 OD front tools, plus drilling and rear-end working units—this lathe delivers fast, single-setup machining. It’s controlled by a reliable Fanuc 18i-TB CNC, enabling full front C-axis indexing and optional back tool operations.

Compared to earlier models like the SB-16C, the SB-16D introduces the specialized back-end tool post, enhancing overlap machining of front and rear faces. This adds rigidity and reduces idle time, allowing manufacturers to execute complex two-sided machining in a single cycle more efficiently.
