2014 Southwestern Industries TRAK 1630SX CNC Lathe

The 2014 Southwestern Industries TRAK 1630sx is a heavy-duty toolroom lathe equipped with the ProtoTRAK SLX conversational CNC pendant, offering 16" of swing over the bed, 30" between centers, and variable spindle speeds from 150–2500 RPM. Built around a D1-4 spindle nose, fully enclosed guarding, an integrated coolant system, and digital spindle control, this machine handles everything from one-off precision parts to small production runs with equal confidence. Its 230V/3-phase power requirement and 115V control circuit make it straightforward to install in a standard industrial shop environment.

Compared to its predecessor, the TRAK 1440SX, the 1630sx steps up from a 14" swing to 16" and from 24" between centers to 30" — a meaningful capacity increase for shops turning larger-diameter or longer workpieces. The SLX control is also a generational improvement over the earlier ELX pendant, offering faster conversational programming, expanded canned cycles, and a cleaner interface that reduces training time for operators at any skill level.
