The Nakamura-Tome Super NTJX is a twin-spindle multi-tasking CNC mill-turn center with a reputation for rigid, high-tolerance production that has made it the machine of choice for aerospace contract shops, oil and gas suppliers, and medical implant manufacturers. This 2007 build, installed new in 2008, features a left spindle at 4,500 RPM and 20/15 HP with 2.5-inch bar capacity, a right spindle at 6,000 RPM and 15/10 HP with 2.0-inch bar capacity, distance between spindle faces from 8.26 to 50.78 inches, a 9.64-inch max turning diameter, and up to 42.91 inches of turning length. The upper tool spindle carries a 10/5 HP B-axis head with 190-degree positioning (±95°), Capto C6 tooling, 12,000 RPM, and a 40+120 (160-tool) ATC, while a lower 12-station live turret runs at 3,600 RPM on a 7.5/5 HP drive with 24-position dodecagonal indexing. Slide travels cover X1 17.91, X2 8.75, Z1 42.91, Z2 39.56, B2 39.68, Y1 ±2.76, and Y2 +0.787 to -1.96 inches — a full 8-axis envelope running under a Fanuc 31i-A control with NT-Nurse II process management, NT Work Navigator, LNS QuickLoad Servo S3 barfeed, right-discharge hinge chip conveyor, high-pressure coolant on the B-axis tool spindle, coolant-thru turret and tool spindle, Renishaw OMP400 probing prep, and the full tooling package included. Compared to Nakamura-Tome's earlier Super NT-series twin-spindle lathes — the Super NTY3, Super NTMX, and Super NTM3 — the Super NTJX is a genuine generational step up, not just a newer build date. The 160-tool ATC triples the effective tool reach of the 40 to 80-tool magazines on earlier Super NT variants, opening long unattended cycles without mid-shift tool changes. Fanuc's 31i-A control replaces the older 18i-TB and 16i-TB Nakamura used on prior Super NT models, adding faster block processing, more memory, and Ethernet connectivity alongside the Nakamura-exclusive NT-Nurse II operator-assist system. The B-axis 190-degree positioning on the upper tool spindle, combined with Y-axis on both the upper tool spindle and the lower turret, extends angular-machining capability well past the earlier Super NT Y-only configurations. With the LNS barfeed, chip conveyor, probing prep, high-pressure coolant, and the full tooling package already in place, the buyer is stepping into a production-ready 8-axis mill-turn cell at a used price.
