The 2001 Haas SL-20T CNC turning center is a production-ready 20-class lathe arriving with everything needed to put it to work — including the integrated Haas Servo Bar 300 bar feeder, a 10-station turret, parts catcher, and built-in auger chip conveyor. The "T" in SL-20T denotes a tailstock-equipped configuration, expanding the work envelope to 14" of turning length and 8.5" of cutting diameter across both shaft and chuck-style parts. A 20 HP vector spindle drive paired with a 2.0" spindle bore, A2-5 spindle nose, 8" hydraulic chuck, and 4,000 RPM top end gives this lathe enough muscle for steel and stainless production turning, and the included foot switch and 208-230V three-phase wiring make installation straightforward.

Compared to the earlier Haas HL-2 that launched Haas's lathe lineup in the late 1990s, the SL-20T represented a full platform rebuild — with the now-iconic SL cast-iron base, a 20 HP vector spindle drive in place of the HL-2's lower-rated motor, and a larger 2.0" spindle bore that significantly expanded bar-work cross-section over the HL-2's 1.625" bore.
