The 2014 DMG Mori NLX2500/700MC is a high-performance CNC turning center built to handle demanding mill-turn applications with precision and efficiency. Equipped with a 25 HP main spindle spinning up to 4,500 RPM, this machine delivers strong cutting authority across a wide range of materials. The 12-station BMT (Built-in Motor Turret) provides rigid, direct-drive live tooling at 6,000 RPM with 7.4 HP, enabling complex milling, drilling, and tapping operations without secondary setups. Full C-axis capability opens the door to off-centerline features and intricate contouring. With a max turning diameter of 14.4 inches, a max turning length of 27.76 inches, and a bar capacity of 3.1 inches through an A2-8 spindle nose, the NLX2500/700MC handles a broad spectrum of part sizes. The programmable hydraulic tailstock adds support for shaft work and longer parts, while the 3-jaw hydraulic chuck ensures fast, repeatable clamping. Rapid traverse rates of 1,181 IPM keep non-cutting time to a minimum, and the included tool presetter reduces setup time between jobs. The NLX2500/700MC represents a significant step forward from the earlier NL2500 and NL2500MC series it replaced. Where the NL-series machines relied on a conventional turret coupling that introduced flex under heavy milling loads, the NLX platform introduced the BMT turret as standard on MC variants — delivering substantially higher rigidity and longer tool life during live tooling operations. The NLX2500 also brought an upgraded flat-bed-style construction with integral coolant channels for improved thermal stability, along with a wider X-axis stroke of 10.24 inches that accommodates larger tooling setups. The turnSYNC control architecture on the NLX line simplified synchronization of spindle and turret operations, reducing programming complexity for mill-turn parts. Compared to a similarly sized NL2500MC, this NLX2500/700MC offers measurably better surface finishes under identical cutting conditions, thanks to the stiffer turret interface and improved vibration damping throughout the machine frame.
