2006 Haas SL-40T CNC Lathe

The 2006 Haas SL-40T is a big-bore 2-axis CNC turning center engineered for large-diameter shafts, flanges, and gear blanks that smaller-class machines simply cannot swing. It pairs an A2-11 spindle nose with a 4" bar capacity and 30 HP at the spindle for 2,400 RPM peak speeds, riding a 25.5" max-cutting-diameter envelope and a 44.5" Z-travel cutting length. The 12-station Bolt-On Tooling (BOT) turret swaps Haas's standardized tool blocks in seconds, the hydraulic tailstock with live center supports between-centers work up to the full bed length, and the Hennig chip conveyor, MistBuster mist collector, and programmable hydraulic system make this a turn-key cell ready for production-floor work.

Compared to the predecessor Haas HL-series (Haas's first big horizontal lathes that the SL line replaced around 2002), the SL-40T moves to a faster A2-11 spindle, the Big-Bore 4-inch bar capacity, and Haas's then-new Classic control with conversational programming and a full-color display. The SL-40T also gains the 12-station Bolt-On Tooling (BOT) turret design that lets shops swap pre-mounted tool blocks in seconds rather than realigning each station individually - a major workflow gain over the HL-series mounting approach.
