2012 Mazak QTN 450MY-II 3000U CNC Live-Tool Turning Center

The 2012 Mazak QTN 450MY-II 3000U is a large-bed CNC live-tool turning center built around a 50 HP main spindle with a 7.28 inch spindle bore, an 18 inch front air chuck, and a Y-axis driven turret with C-axis indexing for full milling-on-the-lathe capability. The 3000U bed delivers 120 inches of distance between centers and 122 inches of maximum machining length, opening up shaft work, drive lines, and long oilfield, energy, and aerospace parts that smaller QTN frames cannot touch in a single setup. With the Mazatrol Matrix Nexus 2 control, re-threading, thread start point compensation, an SMW hydraulic steady rest, a side chip conveyor, high-pressure coolant, and a 21 inch manual rear chuck, the unit reads as a heavily optioned production cell rather than a base-spec turning center.

Compared to the earlier Mazak Quick Turn Nexus 450MY (Mark I) it succeeded, the 450MY-II generation brings the modern Mazatrol Matrix Nexus 2 control with faster look-ahead and improved conversational programming, refined Y-axis stiffness on the turret slide for stronger off-center milling, and a current-generation drum turret design tuned for heavier live-tool cuts. The 3000U bed length variant in particular pushes the platform into long-shaft territory normally reserved for dedicated oil-country lathes, while keeping the multi-tasking M-Y capability the QTN line is known for.
