2015 Mazak PowerMaster Universal 3000 CNC Big-Bore Hollow-Spindle Lathe

The 2015 Mazak PowerMaster Universal 3000 is a big-bore, hollow-spindle CNC lathe built for large-diameter oil-country and heavy turning work, with a 12.5 inch spindle bore, 34 inch swing over the cross slide, and 117.52 inch turning length between front and rear 25 inch four-jaw chucks. A 60 HP spindle turns to 750 RPM under Mazatrol 640MT control, and the machine carries an 8-station disk turret plus six boring positions, high-pressure coolant, and a Jorgensen chip conveyor for long-bar work. Its A2-20 spindle nose and 121 inch Z-axis travel make it suited to tubular and shaft work that standard chucking lathes cannot pass or hold.

Compared to a conventional flat-bed engine lathe or a mid-size turning center, the PowerMaster large through-bore and dual-chuck configuration let an operator run long pipe and bar straight through the headstock and clamp both ends, rather than working one short part at a time. For a shop turning couplings, tool joints, or long shafts, that hollow-spindle capacity and rethreading capability remove the length and diameter limits that smaller lathes impose.
