2006 Mazak M5N CNC Lathe

The Mazak M5N is a big-bore CNC turning center built for large-diameter and long-shaft work, with the rugged construction and dependable Mazatrol control that Mazak turning centers are known for. This 2006 machine offers a 24 inch maximum swing, 13 inch swing over the cross slide, 22.8 inch maximum cutting diameter, and 82 inches between centers, paired with an A2-15 spindle nose, a 7.1 inch spindle bore for passing large-diameter bar stock, a spindle rated to 1,000 RPM, and a 30 HP main drive. An 8-station disk turret with 6 boring positions carries heavy turning and boring tooling, and the machine runs the Mazatrol 640T control with the EIA programming option, threading, and start-point re-threading for both conversational and G-code production work.

Compared to earlier Mazatrol T-Plus and T32-controlled Mazak turning centers, the M5N's 640T control adds full EIA/ISO G-code compatibility alongside conversational Mazatrol programming, faster look-ahead processing, and expanded threading and re-threading cycles, so a shop can run legacy posted programs and shop-floor conversational jobs on one machine. Backed by the large 7.1 inch spindle bore and A2-15 nose, it accepts heavier chucking and larger bar than smaller-bore predecessors, making the M5N a more capable, more flexible big-bore lathe for oversized shaft, flange, and oil-country style turning.
