The DMG Mori NLX2500/700 is a rigid, high-precision live-tool turning center with a reputation for dependable accuracy that has made the NLX series a staple in production and job-shop environments. This CNC turn-mill lathe combines a 10-inch 3-jaw chuck, A2-8 spindle nose, and a 4,000 RPM, 30 HP main spindle with full C-axis control and driven (live) tooling in a 12-station turret, so turned parts can be drilled, milled, and tapped off-center in a single setup. The rotary tool spindle delivers roughly 7.5 HP for genuine milling capability, while the work envelope provides 27.76 inches between centers, a 30.98-inch swing over bed, a 14.4-inch maximum turning diameter, X and Z travels of 10.2 x 31.3 inches, and a 3.1-inch bar capacity. A tailstock for long-part support, tool presetter, and integrated chip conveyor round out a complete-machining platform built to move parts from raw stock to finished component with fewer operations.
Compared with its predecessor, the Mori Seiki NL2500, the NLX2500 was re-engineered for greater rigidity and tighter thermal stability. The NLX platform introduced a wider flat-bed casting with box slideways on the X and Z axes, improved thermal-displacement control, faster rapid traverse, and a more capable live-tooling and C-axis package than the earlier NL generation, paired with the modern MAPPS IV / CELOS-class control with 3D collision checking and simplified shop-floor programming. The result is a meaningfully better machine than the NL it replaced: more consistent part accuracy over long runs, quicker chip-to-chip performance, and the turn-mill versatility to consolidate operations that used to require a second machine.
