The Hurco TMX8MYSi is a true slant-bed mill-turn lathe built to finish complex parts complete in a single setup. This 2023 machine pairs an 8 inch main spindle turning to 4,500 RPM on 25 kW (33.5 HP) and 176.1 ft-lb with a 6 inch sub-spindle reaching 6,000 RPM on 15 kW (20.1 HP), so the back end of a part gets machined without a second operation. A 12-station servo turret carries BMT65 tooling with 25 mm x 25 mm shanks and boring bars to 40 mm, and it drives live tools to 5,000 RPM on 6.3 kW (8.5 HP). The programmable Y-axis gives 2.17 inches of travel for flat-bottomed pockets, straight walls, and off-center work a C-axis alone cannot reach. Capacity is 20 inches of swing over the bed and cross slide, 10.81 inch max turning diameter, 20.75 inch turning length, 29.68 inches between centers, and 2.54 inch bar capacity. Travels run 11.24 inches in X, 22.05 in Z, and 25.2 in W for programmable sub-spindle positioning, with rapids of 945 IPM in X and 1,181 IPM in Z and W. All-digital drives and absolute encoders on every linear axis feed Hurco's WinMax control, here fitted with dual screens, and an LNS Quick Load Servo 80+ bar feeder runs alongside on 480V three-phase power.
The TMX line sits a clear step above the Hurco TM and TMMi lathes it grew out of, and the TMX8MYSi is the fullest expression of it. Where a TMi or TMMi is built around lighter 2-axis and basic live-tool work, the TMX moves to a larger, heavier slant-bed casting - 15,994 lb of machine - and a substantially more powerful headstock, putting 33.5 HP and 176.1 ft-lb behind the cut instead of the smaller drives the earlier frames carried. The additions that matter most for a shop moving up are structural rather than incremental: a genuine programmable Y-axis instead of C-axis-only positioning, a 6,000 RPM sub-spindle with its own 20.1 HP drive and a programmable W-axis to position it, and a 12-station servo turret with BMT65 tooling in place of lighter turret arrangements. Rapid traverse climbs to 945 IPM in X and 1,181 IPM in Z and W, pulling real time out of multi-op cycles. And because the control is still WinMax, an operator who learned conversational programming on a TM or TMMi moves onto this machine without relearning anything - the same workflow now drives four axes, two spindles, and a bar feeder.
