2019 Tsugami B038T CNC Swiss-Type Lathe

The Tsugami B038T is a Swiss-type CNC automatic lathe built for complete machining of small, complex, tight-tolerance parts. Its sliding-headstock design supports the bar right at the cutting zone, which is what lets a Swiss platform hold tight diameters on long, slender work that would chatter in a conventional chucker. Main and back spindle operations run in a coordinated cycle, so turning, drilling, and milling all happen in one pass and parts come off the machine finished rather than moving to a second operation. A rigid base and thermally stable construction are why this class of Tsugami is a mainstay in medical, aerospace, defense, and high-volume precision component work.

Compared with a standard gang-type B038, the B038T adds a turret alongside the gang tool posts, and that single change is what widens the range of parts the machine can finish complete. On a gang-only Swiss lathe the tool positions are fixed and finite, so a genuinely complex part runs out of room and forces either a second setup or a second machine. The turret gives the B038T a substantially deeper tool pool without giving up the guide bushing rigidity at the cut, so multi-feature work that would otherwise be quoted as a two-operation job can be programmed as one. For a job shop, that is the difference between bidding a complicated part competitively and passing on the RFQ.
