2024 Smart NL2500SY CNC Turn-Mill Center

The Smart NL 2500SY is a box way turn-mill center built for shops that want one setup to produce a finished part, a configuration that has made the NL line a practical alternative to premium turn-mill iron in job shop and contract manufacturing environments. The machine swings 31.89 inch over the bed, turns to a 15.51 inch maximum diameter and 28.07 inch maximum length, and runs a 10 inch chuck on an A2-8 spindle nose with 3.19 inch bar capacity, driven by a 25/35 HP motor to 4,000 RPM. An 8 inch sub-spindle on an A2-6 nose adds 20 HP, 5,000 RPM, and 2.0 inch bar capacity for backworking, while Y-axis travel, a C-axis, and live tooling in the turret handle off-center milling, cross drilling, and tapping without a second machine. A Fanuc 0i-TF control with conversational programming runs the cell, and the machine is equipped with a tool presetter, bar feeder interface, air blow to both spindles, a pneumatic parts ejector, sub-spindle coolant flush, and an oil skimmer.

Compared with the base NL 2500, this SY configuration is a different machine in what it can accept as work. The standard NL 2500 is a two-axis turning center: every milled flat, cross hole, or backside feature leaves the spindle and goes to a mill or a second lathe, and every one of those moves costs a setup, a fixture, and a tolerance stack. The SY adds the sub-spindle, Y-axis, and live tooling that collapse those operations into one cycle, so a part that used to route through three machines comes off finished, dimensioned from a single datum. Box way construction carries over from the NL platform for damping and long-term size holding under heavy cuts - the SY simply asks that rigidity to do considerably more work per part.

About This Machine

Every part you hand off to a second operation is margin walking out the door, and the NL 2500SY takes it back - a 10 inch main chuck, 8 inch sub-spindle, Y-axis, and live tooling finish complex work complete in a single handling. Box way construction under a Fanuc 0i-TF control keeps size where you set it through long runs, so your team can quote tighter jobs and hold them.
