2021 Doosan Lynx-2100A CNC Turning Center

The Doosan Lynx-2100A is a 2-axis compact CNC turning center with the box-way rigidity and thermal stability that made the Lynx line a default choice for high-mix small-part work. This 2021 machine carries a 6" chuck on an A2-5 spindle nose with a 2.4" spindle bore and 2" bar working diameter, turning up to 13.8" in diameter. The spindle delivers 20 HP and 6,000 RPM, and axis motion runs 8.1" in X and 13.4" in Z with rapid traverse of 1,181 IPM in X and 1,417 IPM in Z, so air-cutting time stays short on parts that live inside a small envelope. A 12-station bi-directional turret takes BMT-KEY tooling and reaches the next station by the shorter path, and a hydraulic tailstock with an MT#4 live center supports longer shaft work. The machine is equipped with automatic doors, a tool presetter, a parts catcher, a chip conveyor, and a robot interface, and it runs a Fanuc control.

Set beside the Doosan Lynx 220A that preceded it in this size class, the 2100A is a meaningfully quicker machine rather than a restyled one. The 220A generation ran an earlier Fanuc control era and slower axis rapids; the 2100A moves 30 m/min in X and 36 m/min in Z, which on parts with this short a work envelope is where most of the cycle time actually lives - the cut is brief and the traverse is not. The turret is the other real change: bi-directional indexing on the BMT-KEY platform reaches the next tool by the shorter arc and holds driven-tool-grade rigidity on a static turret, where the older machine simply rotated one way through the stations. Add a 6,000 RPM 20 HP spindle and a 2" bar capacity in the same compact footprint, and the 2100A does the 220A job in less time per part - which is the only comparison that shows up on a quote.
