2025 Trak TRL3060RX CNC Toolroom Lathe

The TRAK TRL3060RX is a heavy-duty CNC toolroom lathe built around a simple idea: an operator should be able to grab a handwheel or run a program without moving the part. This 2025 machine swings 33" over the bed and 43.5" over its 15.5" removable gap, carries 60" between centers on a 16.5" center height, and passes 6.3" of bar straight through an A2-11 spindle - a combination that puts oilfield shafts, long rolls, and large flanged work inside a single setup. A 30 HP inverter-duty spindle drives two ranges, 20 to 415 RPM and 40 to 1,300 RPM, so low-end torque for big diameters and top-end speed for finishing both live on the same machine. Cross slide travel is 20.5" with 21.2" swing over the cross slide, rapids run 400 IPM in Z and 200 IPM in X, and the tailstock carries an MT#6 quill with 8" of travel. The ProtoTRAK RLX control is factory-integrated with electronic handwheels and a jogstick, so conversational programming, TRAKing, and true manual operation are all one machine.

Against the TRL 3060SX it replaced, the RX generation is a control-and-feel upgrade rather than a new casting. The SX ran the older ProtoTRAK SLX; the RX ships with the ProtoTRAK RLX, which brings a larger touch-driven interface, faster conversational part programming, and better on-screen verification before a single chip comes off an expensive setup. The practical difference on the floor is how quickly a one-off becomes a program: the RLX lets an operator rough a feature manually, capture it, and repeat it, where the SX generation pushed you to choose manual or CNC up front. Everything a toolroom buyer already liked about the 3060 - the 33" swing, the 6.3" through hole, the gap bed, the 30 HP two-range drive - carries over unchanged, so the RX is the same heavy machine with a materially better way to talk to it.

About This Machine

Big shaft work usually means booking time on somebody else's machine - this TRL3060RX swings 33", takes 60" between centers, and passes 6.3" straight through the spindle, so the long heavy stuff finally stays in your building. It runs manual when you want handwheels and CNC when you want a program, which is exactly why a toolroom lathe this size earns its floor space on one-offs, repairs, and short runs alike.
