2021 Nomura NN-20J3 CNC Swiss Turning Center

The Nomura NN-20J3 is a Swiss-type CNC turning center from Nomura DS's J Series, a machine line with a reputation for repeatable precision that has made it a staple in medical, aerospace, and electronics production. This 2021 example is a fully equipped complete-machining package: a 20 mm bar capacity, a main and back spindle each running to 10,000 RPM, four axes on both the main and sub-spindle, and a .0001 degree C-axis standard on both spindles. It carries a Y-axis, live tooling, and a sub-spindle for done-in-one machining, driven by a Mitsubishi M80 Type A control with 30 tool stations, 30 m/min rapids, and 3.7 kW of main spindle power. The main spindle is served by 6 OD tools, 4 static front and back drilling stations, and 5 live cross drill/mill spindles, while the sub-spindle adds static back drilling, OD, cross and off-center live tools for full back-working. The J3 expands the tooling layout to 30 stations - more capacity than the roughly 29-tool J2 - and pairs it with the newer Mitsubishi M80 Type A control for easier programming and quicker chip-to-chip times. Nomura also tightened the C-axis to .0001 degree resolution on both the main and back spindles, added the horizontal tool post for better chip flow, and stiffened the base with a dovetail structure for improved rigidity on demanding thin-wall and small-diameter parts. For a shop weighing an older J2, moving up to this J3 means more tools in the cut, tighter positioning, and cleaner chip control - real throughput and finish gains, delivered here as a fully tooled, automation-ready machine at a used-machine price.
