Where the 20/5 sequences much of its back-working and limits how many tools can engage at once, the 20/8 supports simultaneous cutting across main and counter spindle work, which collapses cycle time on multi-feature parts instead of just repositioning faster. It also expands driven-tool and back-working station count over the 20/5 layout, so complex parts fit in one setup rather than spilling into a secondary operation.
