The Okuma LB3000 EXII MYW is a SPACE TURN multitasking CNC lathe that pairs a main spindle, a built-in sub-spindle, Y-axis and live tooling in one compact machine, carrying the reputation for rigidity and long-term accuracy that has made Okuma lathes a fixture in production shops. This 2016 unit, built by Okuma Corporation in Japan, is rated for a 22.83 inch swing over bed, 18.5 inch swing over saddle and 13.39 inch maximum turning diameter, with 10.24 inches of X-axis travel, 4.53 inches of Y-axis travel and a full 360 degree C-axis. Rapid traverse rates are rated at 984 ipm in X, 1,181 ipm in Z and 492 ipm in Y. The M-V12 turret holds 12 turning or live tools, with a milling spindle rated to 6,000 RPM and 9.5 HP for cross drilling, tapping, flats and off-center Y-axis work. The built-in sub-spindle is rated to 6,000 RPM with a 15 HP motor and 2.44 inch bore for complete back-side machining in a single cycle. This machine is equipped with Royal QG65 collet chucks on the main and sub-spindles, a 3-jaw chuck, an Edge Technologies Rebel V-65 servo bar feeder, high pressure coolant, chip conveyor, parts catcher, tool presetter and a MistAway mist collector, all run by the Okuma OSP control.
Compared with the original Okuma LB3000 EX that it replaced, the LB3000 EXII carries Okuma's multitasking lathe forward with a current-generation OSP control, Okuma's Thermo-Friendly Concept for managing thermal growth over long production runs, and a refined MYW configuration that combines Y-axis milling with a built-in sub-spindle. The result is a machine designed to finish complex turned and milled parts complete, front and back, with less operator handling and fewer secondary operations. For a shop running bar work around the clock, the LB3000 EXII MYW is a meaningfully more capable machine than the earlier generation, turning bar stock into finished parts with one machine, one setup and one program.
