The Okuma Genos L200E-MY is a compact Y-axis CNC lathe with a reputation for rigidity and long-term reliability that has made it a staple in job shops and precision small-part production. This 2013 turn-mill center runs the Okuma OSP-P300L-R CNC control and offers a 17.72 inch swing over bed, 7.87 inch maximum cutting diameter, 14.96 inch maximum cutting length and 21 inch distance between centers. Travels are X 6.50 / Y 3.15 (80 mm, +30 / -50 mm) / Z 15.75 inches, with rapid traverse rates of 787 / 393 / 984 inches per minute and full C-axis contouring and indexing. The A2-6 spindle nose has a 2.60 inch bore, 1.70 inch bar capacity, 15 HP drive and 4,500 RPM top speed. A 12-position turret carries live tooling rated to 6,000 RPM, equipped with two axial and two radial driven tool holders for off-center milling, drilling and tapping. Bar work is handled by an Edge Technologies Patriot 338 8 ft automatic bar feeder with push and pull action and a 16C collet system with a collet set from 3/16 to 1-5/8 inch, alongside an 8 inch 3-jaw hydraulic chuck with hard and soft jaws. Additional equipment includes a programmable tailstock, removable touch setter and tool presetter, chip conveyor, flood coolant system, parts catcher and manuals.
Compared with the Genos L200E-M, the L200E-MY adds a true Y-axis to the turret, so off-center features, flats, slots and cross holes can be milled complete in one chucking instead of being sent to a mill. It also steps well beyond older Okuma compact lathes such as the LB15-II, which ran earlier-generation OSP controls; the OSP-P300L-R brings a larger color display, a more modern operator interface and integrated management of live tooling, Y-axis and bar feeder cycles. Paired with the Genos platform's rigid construction, built for steady bar-fed production, that combination means fewer operations, fewer fixtures and more finished parts per shift - a meaningfully better machine, not just a newer one.
