The Doosan Lynx 220LMSC is a compact CNC turning center with a reputation for simple, reliable operation that has made the Lynx 220 series a staple in job shops and production cells. This 2013 model combines live tooling, C-axis and a sub-spindle in one footprint for complete machining from bar stock. The main spindle is sized for an 8-inch chuck on an A2-6 spindle nose, with a 3.0-inch spindle bore, 2.6-inch bar capacity, 4,500 RPM top speed and a 20.1 HP spindle motor. Maximum turning diameter is 11.8 inches and maximum turning length is 20.1 inches, with X / Z travels of 8.1 / 21.7 inches and rapid traverse up to 1,417 IPM on Z. A 12-station BMT turret carries driven tools rated to 6,000 RPM with a 5 HP live tool motor, so milling, drilling and tapping operations run in the same setup as turning. The opposing sub-spindle is rated to 6,000 RPM with a 7.4 HP motor, allowing back-working and part transfer without a second operation. The Lynx 220 series followed the earlier Daewoo and Doosan Lynx 200 and Lynx 210 compact lathes, and the LMSC sits at the top of the family.
