The Okuma LB3000 EX II MYW is a multitasking CNC lathe from the Space Turn series, a line known for rigid, thermally stable turning that has made it a staple in job shops and production cells. This 2022 unit is the MYW configuration: Y-axis milling, live tooling with C-axis, and an opposed sub-spindle, all served by a single live-tool turret for done-in-one machining. The main spindle is rated to 5,000 RPM with a 30 HP motor on an A2-6 spindle nose and carries an 8 inch 3-jaw chuck, while the sub-spindle reaches 6,000 RPM with a 15 HP motor and a 6 inch 3-jaw chuck for back-working. The live-tool turret is rated to 6,000 RPM with a 9.5 HP milling motor, and 10.24 inches of X travel with 4.53 inches of Y-axis travel let it drill, tap, and mill off-center features without a second operation. Work capacity includes a 22.83 inch swing over bed, 18.5 inch swing over saddle, and 13.39 inch maximum turning diameter, with Z-axis rapids of 1,181 ipm. The lathe runs an Okuma control and is listed with a bar feeder, parts catcher, axial and radial live tool holders, two 1 inch square stick holders, a face groove holder, and six spindle liners.
The LB3000 EX II is the successor to Okuma's first-generation LB3000 EX and the earlier LB300-M turning centers. The EX II generation pairs a newer generation of Okuma control with Okuma's Thermo-Friendly Concept, which is designed to limit thermal drift through long shifts without special room temperature control, so the accuracy the machine is built for holds from the first part of the day to the last. In MYW form it brings Y-axis milling and a sub-spindle into the same work envelope, letting a part that would otherwise need a lathe, a mill, and a second setup be finished complete in one cycle. For a shop moving up from an LB300-M or an early LB3000 EX, that means fewer fixtures, fewer handoffs between machines, and more spindle time spent cutting finished parts.
