2008 Mikron HSM500 Graphite CNC Vertical Mill

The 2008 Mikron HSM500 Graphite CNC Vertical Mill is a high-speed graphite cutting solution designed for supreme surface finish and ultra-fine detail. With a Fischer 42000 RPM HSK-E40 spindle delivering 14.75 horsepower, this machine balances agility and stability over a compact 21.7 inch by 17.7 inch clamping surface. It features a 3-axis system with generous travels of 19.7 inch on the X, 17.7 inch on the Y, and 13.8 inch on the Z. This unit is driven by a Heidenhain iTNC 530 control and equipped with a 36-tool ATC and a Donaldson Torit DF02-2 dust collection system to handle abrasive graphite particulates.

Compared to more standard vertical mills, the HSM500’s high rapid traverse of 1575 IPM and ultra-fast spindle make it ideal for graphite EDM electrode production or fine detail die work. Machines of lesser pedigree often struggle to combine such high RPMs with the rigidity and precision required for graphite containment and tool life optimization.
