2012 Fanuc Robodrill a-T14iFa CNC Vertical Mill

The 2012 Fanuc Robodrill a-T14iFa is a high-speed vertical machining centre that fits a nineteen-point-sixty-nine-inch square table inside an eighty-five-inch by seventy-two-inch shell, then couples it to nineteen-inch X, fifteen-inch Y and thirteen-inch Z strokes powered by dual thirty-mm ball screws and absolute-encoder servos. A BT-30 taper spins to ten-thousand RPM by way of a seven-point-five-horsepower vector motor, giving forty-four foot-pounds at three-thousand RPM for stainless or Inconel drilling without chatter. Rapids of one-thousand-four-hundred-seventeen IPM in X and Y and one-thousand-one-hundred-eighty-one IPM in Z slash air-cut time, while rigid tapping plus M-code-driven coolant keep threads crisp at depth. The fourteen-station turret delivers one-point-two-second tool-to-tool swaps and two-point-three-second chip-to-chip cycles, letting the machine finish pockets before larger BT-40 mills finish retracting.

Compared with Fanuc’s earlier a-T14iA – eight-thousand RPM spindle, five-point-five-kilowatt drive, rapids to one-thousand-eight-hundred-ninety IPM and the older 16i-M control – the T14iFa raises spindle speed to ten-thousand RPM, steps up to a thirty-one-series control with nano smoothing, adds higher peak torque and tightens repeatability, yet keeps the same nineteen-inch X stroke and fourteen-tool carousel, so existing fixtures drop straight onto the newer table. In short, the Fa edition is the servo-tuned, high-pressure-ready evolution that turns out medical housings and five-micron phone-mould inserts in one setup while the older machine idles on toolchange.
