The 2024 Haas VF-4 is a medium-envelope vertical machining centre that stretches fifty-inch X, twenty-inch Y and twenty-five-inch Z strokes across a fifty-two-inch by eighteen-inch table rated to thirty-five-hundred-pounds, giving job-shops aircraft-wing reach without moving to a bridge mill. An inline eight-thousand-one-hundred-RPM spindle feeds thirty horsepower through a forty-taper nose, balancing low-speed torque for roughing with the surface-footage hunger demanded by aluminium and composite finishes. A twenty-pocket carousel tool changer swaps cutters in roughly four seconds, while rapid traverses hit fourteen-hundred-IPM in all linear axes and cutting feeds run up to eight-hundred-thirty-three-IPM, so the machine spends more time making chips than jogging between them. The Haas Next-Gen control brings one-gigabyte program memory, WiFi, HaasDrop file transfer and rigid tapping; WIPS probing automates set-ups, and safe-run with power-failure detection shields both workpiece and spindle during unattended cycles. Through-spindle-coolant readiness, a fifty-five-gallon tank, chip tray filter kit and window air blast unite to keep cutters sharp and visibility crisp.

Compared with Haas’s VF-4 “base” package—identical travels but a six-thousand-RPM belt spindle, ten-horsepower vector drive, carousel changer limited to eight-second swaps and no probing—the 2024 build upgrades to an inline eight-thousand-one-hundred-RPM twenty-horse-improvement spindle, halves tool-change time, adds WIPS and chip-auger automation, and readies through-spindle coolant so complex pockets are cleared in-process rather than by manual air blast.
