2005 Acra DM-4 Toolroom Mill

The 2005 Acra DM-4 is a heavy-box-way, bed-type toolroom mill that folds 40-inch X, 20-inch Y and 24-inch Z travels into a rigid Meehanite casting, giving job-shops bridge-mill stability without bridge-mill price. A 60- by 14-inch table shoulders 1 000-pound fixtures while an NMTB-40 taper pumps 5 HP through cutters at 60–5 000 RPM, making deep-slotting or high-feed surfacing equally effortless. The Anilam 3000M PC-based CNC stores long CAM programs on an internal hard drive yet still offers true conversational cycles for quick one-offs; rapid moves streak along at 200 IPM and programmable feeds reach 80 IPM, so roughing and finishing stay on schedule. Through-spindle flood coolant, automatic way lubrication and ±90-degree head swivel round out a feature set that makes the DM-4 a turnkey upgrade for shops graduating from manuals to full CNC.

Compared with Acra’s entry-level DM-2VS—which offers 30- by 15.5- by 16-inch strokes, R8 taper and 4 500-pound weight—the DM-4 stretches X travel by 10 inches, upgrades to a rigid NMTB-40 spindle and adds 1 000 pounds of cast-iron mass for heavier cuts. While the DM-2VS tops out at 5 000 RPM like its bigger sibling, it lacks through-spindle coolant and conversational CNC, making the DM-4 the clear choice for production lots and harder alloys where rigidity, power and program memory matter most.
