The Hwacheon D3-5AX is a full 5-axis trunnion-style CNC machining center built for shops that demand high-accuracy simultaneous 5-axis work with the reliability to keep production running shift after shift. This 2023 unit features axis travels of 31.5” (X), 25.59” (Y), and 22.64” (Z), with a B-axis trunnion rotation range of -10° to +110°, making it well-suited for complex aerospace, medical, and mold work requiring full multi-face access in a single setup. The machine runs a 14,000 RPM, 50 HP spindle on a CAT-40 taper, supported by a 60-tool arm-type ATC for fast, high-capacity tool changes. Control is handled by a Fanuc 0i-MF Plus configured for 4+1 axis machining, and the machine includes a side auto door, chip conveyor, HRCC-II high-rigid cutting control, HAI Function 400 Block contouring, coolant-through-spindle prep (CTS), and a Renishaw NC4 laser tool probe.
The D3-5AX represents a meaningful step up from the Hwacheon D2-5AX in both work envelope and spindle performance. Where the D2-5AX offers X/Y/Z travels of 23.62” x 19.69” x 19.69” and a 12,000 RPM spindle, the D3-5AX expands the envelope to 31.5” x 25.59” x 22.64” — adding more than 7” in X, nearly 6” in Y, and nearly 3” in Z — while pushing spindle speed to 14,000 RPM for higher-speed finishing on demanding materials. For shops that have pushed the limits of the D2-5AX’s table capacity or spindle ceiling, the D3-5AX delivers the same trusted Hwacheon build quality with the physical capability to take on larger, more complex work at used machine pricing.
