The Haas UMC-1000SS is a 5-axis universal machining center built around the same straightforward, dependable design philosophy that has made Haas a workhorse name on American shop floors. This 2020 model is configured as a Super Speed variant with a 12,000 RPM CAT-40 inline direct-drive spindle, a 50+1 side-mount automatic tool changer, 1,000 PSI through-spindle coolant for deep-hole and high-feed work, and the Renishaw WIPS wireless probing system for in-cycle part and tool measurement. The machine carries Haas factory travels of 40" × 25" × 25" with a dual-axis trunnion-style rotary table that delivers ±120° tilt on the A-axis and full 360° rotation on the C-axis, and it ships paired with an 8-station pallet pool for hours of unattended, lights-out production.

Compared to the original Haas UMC-1000, the UMC-1000SS introduces the Super Speed package — most notably the 12,000 RPM inline direct-drive spindle in place of the older 8,100 RPM gear-driven unit, along with faster rapids and reduced acceleration times that meaningfully shorten cycle times on aluminum and prototyping work.
