2006 Haas VF-5 CNC Vertical Machining Center

The 2006 Haas VF-5 is a 50" x 26" x 25" travel CNC vertical machining center built for shops that need a true mid-frame VMC capable of handling weldments, fixturing, and aluminum production work — and this particular machine arrives with a freshly replaced gearbox and spindle. A 20 HP CAT#40 spindle delivers 7,500 RPM with 250 ft-lb of torque at 450 RPM through the gearbox stage, and the included Haas HRT-210 4th-axis rotary, WIPS wireless probing system, 24+1 side-mount tool changer, chip auger, flood coolant, rigid tapping, and high-speed machining option configure this VF-5 as a turnkey production machine — fully ready to drop on the floor and start cutting parts. The 4,000 lb max table load and 137" x 114" x 118" footprint give it the rigidity and clearance to handle large fixtures and heavy aluminum stock without compromise.

Compared to the smaller Haas VF-4 of the same generation, the VF-5 stretches the Y-axis travel from 20" to 26" and grows the table from 52" x 18" to 52" x 23" — enough to accept noticeably larger fixturing, weldments, and chuck-style workholding without giving up X-axis envelope. The VF-5 also pairs better with the optional gearbox spindle on heavier cuts in steel and tool steel, where the smaller VF-4's direct-drive spindle gives up low-end torque, and the integrated 4th-axis rotary on this machine extends its part envelope into shaft and indexed-fixture work that a base VF-4 simply can't reach without aftermarket additions.
