The 2021 Haas DM-2 is a compact, high-speed CNC drill/mill center designed for shops that demand fast cycle times on hole-intensive and light milling work without sacrificing floor space. Powered by a 10,000-RPM, 15-HP inline direct-drive spindle with a CAT 40 taper, this machine delivers rigid cutting performance and rapid tool changes through its 18+1 side-mount tool changer. Travels of 20" x 16" x 15.5" (XYZ) across a 26" x 15" T-slot table provide a generous work envelope for its class, and rapid traverse rates of 1,200 IPM on all axes keep non-cutting time to a minimum. This unit is equipped with a Haas HA5C 5C collet indexer for full 4th-axis capability, a Renishaw Wireless Intuitive Probing System (WIPS) for automated part setup and in-process inspection, and through-spindle coolant readiness for future TSC upgrades. Additional features include an auxiliary coolant filter, chip auger, 55-gallon coolant tank, and a convenience package with CT-style tool changer grippers. The DM-2 also features a more capable 18+1 side-mount tool changer versus the Mini Mill 2's 10-pocket umbrella-style ATC, enabling longer unattended production runs with fewer tool-change interruptions. Its 26" x 15" table delivers significantly more fixturing real estate than the Mini Mill 2's 24.5" x 12" surface, and the DM-2's 1,200 IPM rapids on all three axes outpace the Mini Mill 2's 600 IPM capability.
