The 2018 Fanuc Robodrill a-D21MiB5ADV is a high-speed compact vertical machining center engineered for production drilling, tapping, and small-part milling. It pairs a 24,000 RPM BT30/BBT30 direct-drive spindle with a 21-tool side-mount ATC that swaps tools cut-to-cut in just 1.3 seconds, all driven by a 54 m/min (2,126 IPM) rapid traverse across 19.7" x 15.75" x 15.75" X/Y/Z travels. The Fanuc Series 31i-B5 CNC ties the platform together with rigid tapping, helical interpolation, and Fanuc's nano-precision contouring, while the 25.6" x 15.75" table accepts work for serious small-part throughput. This particular unit comes equipped with Chip Blaster high-pressure thru-spindle coolant, a Mist Buster fume collector, and a chip conveyor - a rare full-options Robodrill configuration.

Compared to the prior-generation Fanuc Robodrill a-D21LiB (the B-series base model without the Advanced upgrades), the a-D21MiB5ADV cuts tool-change time from roughly 2.0 seconds to 1.3 seconds, runs the 54 m/min advanced servo package for substantially faster rapids, and adds the higher-rigidity BBT30 dual-contact spindle interface for improved heavy-cut stability. The ADV Advanced platform also runs the newer Series 31i-B5 control with expanded nano-interpolation and a higher servo loop gain than the older 31i-B - the practical result is shorter cycle times, tighter surface finishes, and a meaningful step up in production capability over earlier B-series Robodrills.
