2015 Mazak MTV-815/80 CNC Vertical Machining Center

The Mazak MTV-815/80 is a two-pallet CNC vertical machining center from Mazak's Mega Tech V line, built for the long-travel, heavy-cut work that makes 50-taper verticals a fixture in mold, die, and large-part machine shops. This 2015 machine carries a CAT 50, 6,000 RPM spindle across 78.74 in (2,000 mm) of X travel, 25.59 in (650 mm) in Y, and 25.59 in (650 mm) in Z, over an 88.2 x 25.6 in (2,240 x 650 mm) table. The two-pallet automatic pallet changer lets the operator load and fixture the next part while the machine cuts, turning a vertical mill into a near-continuous production cell. The Mazatrol 640M control supports both conversational and EIA/G-code programming, and the machine is equipped with a Mazak Superflow V8M/1000 high pressure coolant system and a rear discharge chip conveyor to keep deep pockets and long passes clear of chips.

Compared with the smaller Mazak MTV-655 in the same Mega Tech V series, the MTV-815 steps up to a longer X travel and a larger table, opening the envelope to full-length rail, plate, and mold-base work the smaller machine cannot reach in one setup. The 50-taper spindle also carries heavier tools at higher cutting loads than the 40-taper verticals most shops run, holding rigidity through roughing cuts that would stall a lighter machine.
