2021 Fryer MB-10R CNC Vertical Bed Mill

The Fryer MB-10R is a CNC vertical bed mill built for toolroom and job shop work, where the next job is rarely the same as the last one. Unlike a knee mill, the bed-type design carries the table on a fixed, heavily supported bed while the spindle head does the moving, which keeps the machine rigid under load and holds accuracy on heavier workpieces. Fryer builds the MB series in the USA around a conversational Siemens-based control, so an experienced machinist can walk up to the panel and program a part without going back to a CAM seat. Heavy Meehanite castings, a rigid CAT-40 spindle head, and absolute encoders that never need homing make it a practical fit for mold work, fixtures, prototypes, and short-run production.

Against the earlier MB-10E, the R designation marks the move to the Fryer rigid spindle head, and that is the meaningful difference on this machine. The E-series head was built for lighter toolroom duty, while the rigid head tolerates heavier cuts without the deflection that shows up as chatter in a finish pass. Paired with the current Fryer conversational control, rigid tapping with a peck feature, and an optional automatic tool changer, the MB-10R covers a wider band of work than the model it replaced, so a shop is not pushed onto a larger machining center just to take a deeper cut.
