The Okuma MC-V3016 is a 3-axis CNC vertical machining center from a builder with a reputation for machine tools that stay in production for decades, which is why Okuma verticals remain a staple in job shops and contract manufacturing environments long after their build year. This 2002 example is a conventional-layout vertical machining center with a T-slotted work table, a fully enclosed work zone with coolant containment, and a side-mount automatic tool changer driven by Okuma's cam-type ATC mechanism. It runs on Okuma's OSP control, the CNC that Okuma designs and builds in-house rather than sourcing from an outside control supplier, which is a large part of why these machines are known for long service life and straightforward diagnostics. The MC-V series also adopted an updated column-and-base casting arrangement and a revised side-mount tool changer, improving both cutting stability under load and tool-change reliability across long unattended runs.
