2020 Haas UMC-500 CNC 5-Axis Machining Center

The Haas UMC-500 is a compact simultaneous 5-axis universal machining center that has become a workhorse for shops moving into aerospace, medical, and multi-face part production. This 2020 example features an integrated dual-axis trunnion table for full 5-axis motion, a CAT40 spindle, travels of 24 x 16 x 20 inches, a 30+1 side-mount tool changer, in-process probing, and a chip conveyor for continuous running. Its integrated trunnion and Haas control make five-sided and simultaneous 5-axis work approachable without the footprint or cost of a large machining center.

Compared with a standard 3-axis Haas VF-2 fitted with a separate bolt-on rotary or trunnion, the UMC-500 is a purpose-built 5-axis machine: the factory-integrated trunnion delivers tighter accuracy, better rigidity, and simpler programming with dynamic work offsets and tool center point control, and it frees the full table for larger 5-axis parts rather than sacrificing travel to a stand-alone indexer.
