The Haas VF-2SS is the Super Speed version of Haas's best-selling VF-2 vertical machining center, built for fast, accurate work in tool rooms, prototype shops, and production. This 2021 example carries Haas's 12,000-RPM inline direct-drive 40-taper spindle rated to 30 hp and 90 ft-lbf, driving through 30 x 16 x 20-inch X/Y/Z travels over a 36 x 14-inch table. Super Speed rapids of 1,400 IPM and a 30+1-tool high-speed side-mount tool changer keep cycle times down and non-cut time to a minimum. The machine comes equipped with a spindle probe, through-spindle coolant, and a programmable coolant nozzle, making it a turnkey, ready-to-run platform for high-mix milling, drilling, and tapping.
Compared with the standard Haas VF-2, the SS (Super Speed) configuration is built for speed: where the base VF-2 uses a slower 8,100-RPM 40-taper spindle and 1,000-IPM rapids, this Super Speed model steps up to a 12,000-RPM inline direct-drive spindle and 1,400-IPM rapids, and swaps the standard tool changer for a faster high-speed side-mount changer with 30+1 tools. For a shop running smaller cutters, harder materials, or high-feed toolpaths, that combination means shorter cycle times, better finishes, and quicker tool changes than the standard VF-2 can deliver, all on the same proven Haas control and rigid VF platform.
