2011 Haas DT-1 CNC Drill-Tap Center w/ Midaco APC

The Haas DT-1 is a compact, high-speed drill-tap machining center with a reputation for speed and reliability that has made it a staple in high-volume small-part production and lean manufacturing cells. This 2011 machine delivers X/Y/Z travels of 20 x 16 x 15.5 inches over a 26 x 15 inch table, driven by a 12,000 RPM BT30 inline direct-drive spindle and a 15 HP motor, with rapid traverse of 2,400 IPM on all axes and a 20+1 side-mount tool changer that swaps tools chip-to-chip in about 1.6 seconds. It is equipped with a Midaco automatic pallet changer for near-continuous spindle uptime, 300 PSI through-spindle coolant, a programmable coolant nozzle, an auxiliary coolant filtration system, a chip auger, expanded program memory, a THV30 tool holder vise, and thirty BT30 tool holders, all run by the Haas control.

Compared with an older 40-taper Haas Mini Mill or Super Mini Mill, the DT-1 is a meaningfully faster machine for drilling and tapping work, not just a newer option. Its 30-taper BT30 inline spindle spins to 12,000 RPM and accelerates far quicker than a heavier 40-taper cartridge spindle, its 2,400 IPM rapids and roughly 1.6-second tool changes slash non-cut time, and the side-mount tool changer keeps cycle times short on parts with many holes. Paired with the Midaco pallet changer, the DT-1 converts a Mini Mill-class footprint into a genuine high-throughput drill-tap cell, delivering more finished parts per shift than the slower general-purpose mills that came before it.
