The Doosan DNM-5700S is a high-speed CNC vertical machining center from the DNM line, a series known for simple operation and dependable rigidity that has made it a staple in job shops and production cells alike. This 2022 VMC is set up for 4-axis work with a rotary table and offers X 41.3 / Y 22.4 / Z 20.1 inch travels over a 51.2 x 22.4 inch table rated for 1,764 lb, with 5.9 to 26.0 inches between spindle nose and table. The 15,000 RPM ISO 40 spindle takes BIG PLUS CAT 40 tooling and is driven by an 18.5 kW (24.8 hp) motor producing 117.8 N-m (86.9 ft-lb) of torque. Rapid traverse rates of 1,653 IPM on X and Y and 1,417 IPM on Z cut non-cutting time, and the 40-tool arm-type automatic tool changer is rated for tools up to 4.9 inches in diameter with adjacent pockets empty, 11.8 inches long and 17.6 lb. Control is a Fanuc i Plus with AICC II 200-block look-ahead, 2 MB program memory, data server, embedded Ethernet, a smooth surface package, Doosan tool load monitoring and a handheld MPG. The machine is equipped with flood and through-spindle coolant, a chip conveyor, chip auger, oil skimmer and an additional work light, requires a 33 kVA power supply and weighs approximately 14,330 lb.
Compared with the earlier Doosan DNM 500 II and the standard DNM 5700, the DNM-5700S is the stronger choice for shops that live on cycle time. The S-model's 15,000 RPM spindle outruns the 12,000 RPM spindle of the standard DNM 5700, giving more surface speed for small-diameter cutters, non-ferrous work and finishing passes, while 1,653 IPM rapids on X and Y keep positioning moves short. The move from the DNM 500 II generation to the DNM 5700 platform brings a larger 51.2 inch table and 41.3 inch X travel, the current Fanuc i Plus control generation with AICC II look-ahead for smoother high-feed contouring, and Ethernet and data-server storage for faster program handling. Add the 40-tool magazine in place of the standard 30 and a buyer gets a meaningfully more capable machine, not just a newer one, with more tools on hand, less setup and more parts per shift.
