The Haas VF-2SSYT is a Super-Speed vertical machining center from the VF series, a line whose simple, dependable design has made it a staple in job shops and production cells across North America. This 2023 model is a 3-axis CNC VMC with X / Y / Z travels of 30" x 20" x 20", a 36" x 18" table rated for 1,500 lbs, and 24" maximum spindle nose to table. The 40-taper inline direct-drive spindle runs to 12,000 RPM with a 30 HP vector drive and 90 ft-lbf of torque, and all three axes rapid at 1,400 ipm. This unit is equipped with a High-Speed 50+1 side-mount tool changer, through-spindle coolant, a programmable coolant nozzle, programmable air, a dual-auger chip system with conveyor, an auto window, and a Haas Cobot 10 with the side-window integration kit for automated part loading. Additional equipment includes a coolant tank oil skimmer, chip tray filter kit, control cabinet cooler, and a 55-gallon coolant tank. The Haas control carries 1 GB of program memory, Ethernet and WiFi connectivity, HaasConnect remote monitoring, high-speed machining, rigid tapping, user-definable macros, and coordinate rotation and scaling.
The VF-2SSYT builds on two earlier Haas machines, the standard VF-2 and the VF-2SS. The base VF-2 runs an 8,100 RPM spindle with 1,000 ipm rapids, a 36" x 14" table, and 16" of Y travel. The VF-2SS added the 12,000 RPM inline direct-drive spindle, 1,400 ipm rapids, and a high-speed side-mount tool changer, but kept the 16" Y axis and smaller table. The YT version extends Y travel to 20" and widens the table to 36" x 18", giving room for larger fixtures, multiple vises, or the extra part staging that cobot loading demands. Paired here with a 50+1 tool changer and a Haas Cobot 10, the VF-2SSYT gives a buyer more spindle speed, more work envelope, more tool capacity, and built-in automation - a meaningfully better machine than its predecessors, not just a newer one.
