The Haas VF-2 is a 40-taper vertical machining center whose simple, dependable design has made it one of the most widely used VMCs in job shops and production cells across North America. This 2021 model is a 3-axis CNC VMC with X / Y / Z travels of 30" x 16" x 20", a 36" x 14" table rated for 3,000 lbs, and 24" maximum spindle nose to table, with 1,000 ipm rapids on all axes. This unit is upgraded with the 15,000 RPM inline direct-drive spindle, a 30+1 side-mount tool changer, and 1,000 PSI through-spindle coolant. Equipment also includes an auto door, a Fanuc LR Mate 200iD/7L six-axis robot with a 7 kg payload on a mobile controller cart, a multi-chip auger, programmable coolant nozzle, automatic coolant refill, auxiliary coolant filter, coolant mist condenser, coolant tank oil skimmer, coolant maintenance package, chip tray filter kit, window air blast, and a 55-gallon coolant tank. The Haas Next Generation Control carries a touchscreen display, remote jog handle, 32 GB expanded memory, Ethernet and WiFi connectivity, HaasConnect remote monitoring, rigid tapping, user-definable macros, and coordinate rotation and scaling.
The current VF-2 is a clear step up from early VF-2 builds, which ran a 7,500 RPM belt-driven spindle and a 20-pocket carousel tool changer on the classic Haas control. The modern VF-2 moved to an inline direct-drive spindle, 1,000 ipm rapids, and the Haas Next Generation Control, with a cleaner interface, more memory, and network connectivity built in. This machine goes further with the 15,000 RPM spindle upgrade, double the speed of the old belt-drive design, plus the 30+1 side-mount tool changer and 1,000 PSI through-spindle coolant for deep drilling and faster chip evacuation. Add the Fanuc robot and the result is a meaningfully better machine than its predecessors, not just a newer one - built for higher spindle speeds, faster tool changes, and automated part loading.
